Event Description
This concert will feature some of the sacred and secular works of Oleksander Koshyts. In the 1920s, Koshyts led the National Choir of Ukraine on a North American tour, including a performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City where the first performance of Shchedryk (the melody of which is known in the western world as “Carol of the Bells”) in North America was heard. He later taught choral conductors and singers at choral workshops in Winnipeg.
- St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church Choir will be joining Vesnivka and its partner, Toronto Ukrainian Male Chamber Choir for this concert.
- Wasyl Sydorenko will provide an introduction on the life and works of Koshyts
