Displaced Persons Arriving from Ukraine

Published by UCC Toronto on Mar 15, 2022

The Ukrainian Canadian Congress-National (UCC) is working with Canadian government officials at all levels to learn what programs and assistance will be provided for displaced persons coming to Canada from Ukraine. They expect answers in the next week or so.

At the present time, displaced persons coming to Canada are classified as visitors and not as refugees. They will not receive government assistance. They will need to rely on friends and family for help.

UCC-Toronto branch has formed a committee to address current gaps in government services for displaced persons. We are asking for representatives from our community organizations to join the committee. The goal is to coordinate our community efforts and resources for maximum support for new arrivals.

Actions you can take now:

Would you be willing to join the committee? Contact UCC-T and leave your contact information indicating you want to join the Ukrainian Displaced Persons Support Committee. info@ucctoronto.ca
